- The verse says Allah responds to our prayer. But facts show that for many prayers, He does not. So, you might say that He does not because He knows what is better for us!! For example, a drug addict sincerely prays to Allah to help him get rid of his addiction. What if it does not help and he finds that after six months of asking, he has not been able to kick the habit in spite of his efforts (that is why he needed Allah's assistance). Why is that. He is not asking for something that could be harmful to him.

I think we need to revisit the Arabic and probe deeper into it's meanings.

One explanation could be that Allah responds to our prayers by providing Guidance through His Book!!
