gency) - The regime forces in Bahrain have brutally suppressed a peaceful protest in solidarity with the prominent human rights activist Nabeel Rajab who is jailed for revealing the regimes crimes and violations perpetrated against human rights in Bahrain and for practicing freedom of expression and opinion.
The regime forces used excessive force to face the peaceful protesters near Sar roundabout, the suppression reached the people as well as foreigners who were at the area at the time.
Many citizens were reported to have been arrested solely for exercising their right to protest. The prominent human rights activist, Sayed Yousif Al-Mahafdha, was among those arrested. The suppression reached many areas where protests in solidarity with the prominent human rights activist Nabeel Rajab took place. The regime forces spread clouds of toxic gasses in the residential areas, a typical behavior by the regime forces when dealing with peaceful protesters. Lethal toxic gases were fired inside houses near the area of the protest. Many suffocated in villages were protests were attacked by regime forces. The protests were titled 'Don’t Forget Nabeel'.
Al-Wefaq Secretary General, who took part in the protest to show solidarity with Nabeel Rajab- affirmed that the people of Bahrain is a victorious people despite the official repression stressing that freedom will be achieved at the end, as suppression is only revealing the size of oppression the people of Bahrain is suffering from when it prevents a peaceful event that shows solidarity the prisoner of conscience and human rights activist Nabeel Rajab.
Salman stressed that this week, peaceful protests and assemblies take place in the world in solidarity with Nabeel Rajab, and nobody prevents them, except in Nabeel Rajab's country, the regime forces suppress citizens who decided to show their solidarity with him. What's more, they fire at his family and arrest the human rights activist Sayed Yousif Al-Mahafadha and injure many peaceful protesters, that shows how big the suppression is this country.
He said the most fundamental human rights are banned in Bahrain but Nabeel's voice will reach the world while he is behind bars. He added " what happened today will empower this voice " stressing that such solidarity campaign should continue for a week with a various programs, and new campaigns should be launched to reveal the violations perpetrated against the people of Bahrain, stressing that suppression will not prevent the people of Bahrain from realizing democracy.
Khalil Al-Marzooq, former MP and political assistant of al-Wefaq's Secretary General, said, " The people took to the streets to demand for a state of law where human rights are respected", he added, " if the regime wanted to restore law and order, it should start first with human rights, what is the point of the law if the oppressed can't complain about the oppression, but got suppressed jut for showing solidarity with human rights activists Nabeel Rajab, Al-Khawaja and all political figures inside prison".
He wondered, "Where is the sovereignty of law? What's happening is a misuse of the law and power and this should come to an end, all this repression will not stop the demands movement a state of law is achieved. And we will not forget Nabeel Rajab, the man who was fighting for the rights of the people and we will continue until we realize the state of pride and dignity for the people.
